During this year’s observance of Lent at Holy Redeemer School, we will help to promote the values of sacrifice and almsgiving by supporting a social justice project called North of 60. North of 60 is an organization that is dedicated to helping Canada’s most northern communities by sending non-perishable food items to the community of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. Schools in the Ottawa Catholic School Board that participate in this initiative are asked to commit to collecting one specific item. The item that Holy Redeemer has chosen to collect is Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix (just add water, no eggs). Our goal is to collect 400 boxes of pancake mix.
Throughout Lent, we will also be collecting donations to support local families in need. The following is a list of special Lenten activities planned at Holy Redeemer. For the “special days” listed below, any donation to support our Lenten project would be appreciated. March 6th - Gum Day March 13th – Pyjama Day March 27th – Jersey Day/Rockets Colour Day (red and blue) April 3rd – Hat Day April 6th -April 9th - Easter Basket Raffle: tickets on sale- $1 each or 3 for $2
