Hi there, my name is Erik Caron and I will be your child's Grade 3 teacher this year. This will be my seventh year at Holy Redeemer School. I have taught Grade 3 for five years and Grade 2 for one (last year) at Holy Redeemer. Before Holy Redeemer, I taught Grade 5 and Grade 1. I have completed my math specialist qualification (I dreaded math as a child) and love having the opportunity to open students' minds to a new way of 'doing' math.
I am a big believer in teamwork in the classroom and stress to the students that we are here to work together to help each other get better everyday - more heads are better than one! I love sports and believe that daily physical activity is SO important for students and keeping their minds and bodies active. We do lots of brain breaks in my class to get moving and stay sharp. I grew up in Kanata and my belief in teamwork has stemmed from playing sports my whole life. I believe you can learn a lot of life lessons through playing sports. I played Junior hockey in the area and US college hockey in Vermont. Now, I love to fill the void of competing and challenging myself everyday with doing CrossFit (a couple summers ago I completed my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer's course). I am married (to my lovely wife Jennifer), have one son (Hudson) who is 4 years old (and is starting his first year of JK this year!) and a cat named Dolce. I am part Italian, love coffee and the colour purple! |
