We have begun to focus on healthy eating over the past week or so and will be continuing to do so moving forward. We will be investigating many different sections from a program designed by the Agriculture and Food Museum of Canada (healthy snacks, balanced diet, being active, vegetables and fruit, water, whole grains) called Healthy Kids Quest.
Just wanted to send a reminder that (if possible) students were asked to try and bring in processed food items this week. If we are able to get a variety of items with different countries of origin it would be very helpful. Anything that you already have on hand in the house will work (e.g., cereal boxes, canned foods, boxes from granola bars, etc...). We are going to be investigating number of ingredients as well as country of origin and follow up with discussions about the nutritional value difference between processed and unprocessed foods. We will also be talking about how the origins of food items (where it is grown, how it is made, etc..) affect its nutritional value and the environmental impact.

We have been practising our Christmas Concert song over the past week at school. Here is the song in case anyone would like to practice the dance at home as well! Great job so far everyone!
We have been working with sorting and surveys as we move through our Data Management unit. This is a survey we will be doing later in the week, so no need to do anything with it until further notice. Thanks.
In the spirit of Halloween (and with thanks to Mrs. Addison) we used the famous painting 'The Scream' by Edvard Munch as inspiration for our very own version that you can watch below in video form.
This past Friday's STEM Challenge had students working to create the longest paper chain using the following materials: one piece of paper, glue stick and scissors. There were so many different and amazing strategies to see! It's so great witnessing all the different ways that every student's individual brain works and seeing the outcomes that happen because of it! There were not two groups who approached the challenge in the exact same way, which was very interesting! Teamwork and collaboration was at the forefront! These Friday afternoons are becoming a great tradition with lots of learning! Ask your child about how they approached this challenge.
